SHOPWORKERS’ trade union Usdaw will be speaking to shoppers in Shipley town centre as part of a ‘Save our Shops’ campaign day today.
The union is running an ongoing national campaign to tackle the growing retail crisis on our high streets.
Joining the Usdaw reps and activists at the ‘Save our Shops’ street stall will be Labour’s parliamentary candidate Jo Pike.
Tony Doonan, Usdaw Official, said: “Shoppers in Shipley are very concerned about the future of their town centre. Usdaw’s petition calls for the urgent action needed to save jobs and protect our local high streets with a government-led clear and coherent strategy for retail. The Government must address the growing crisis on our high streets, as we have called for through our ‘Save our Shops’ campaign. The retail industry is experiencing turbulent times"
The petition is at www.usdaw.org.uk/signsos
