A SOCIAL enterprise cafe will be raising awareness of World No Disposable Cup Day by serving up hot drinks at a reduced price.
The Canteen, on Cheapside, Bradford, is encouraging coffee lovers to swap single use coffee cups for reusable ones.
Hot drinks will be £1.75 all day for those who bring along a reusable travel mug on October 4, just quote 'World No Disposable Cup Day'.
16 billion disposable coffee cups, all coated with plastic to laminate the inside, are used globally each year - the UK is behind 2.5 billion of that number. But half a million are dropped on the floor and less than 1 per cent are recycled.
The cafe's Joe Grant said: “We are all now very aware of the little changes we can make in our lives to have a big impact on improving our environment."
