A TEAM of walkers - including former team-mates of City legend Stephen Darby - will complete a hike from Bradford to Liverpool this weekend in support of the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

The charity was set up by ex-Bantams star Darby, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last year, and close friend Chris Rimmer.

‘Steps 4 Stephen’, taking place over three days this weekend, will set out to raise vital funds for the newly-formed charity.

Organised by Jason Costello, in close liaison with former Bolton Wanderers star Tony 'Zico' Kelly, the trek will begin on Friday September 27, at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

Walkers will then make their way through another 15 clubs’ grounds - including the Wanderers’ University of Bolton Stadium - before finishing at Anfield, on Sunday September 29.

Costello said: "Motor neurone disease is such a ruthless condition which does not discriminate in who it attacks.

"Seeing how 'Darbs' and Chris carry themselves with the work in their foundation is an inspiration.

"That is why - when Tony Kelly wanted to set a challenge - we were behind him straight away, to help raise vital funds for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation."

Ryan Sparks, City’s director of communications, added: "We are delighted to be supporting ‘Steps 4 Stephen’.

"Jason, Tony and the rest of the team should be very proud of their efforts in helping support Stephen, Chris and, of course, the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation - which has been launched to tackle motor neurone disease head on.

"This walk will raise vital funds for the charity and we urge fans, as far as possible, to show their support."
