PLANS to demolish commercial units in Baildon and replace them with flats have been submitted to Bradford Council.

A plan to redevelop the site at The Staithes, off Baildon Road, was first approved three years ago.

But permission expired last month with work yet to start.

Now P Russell has been granted permission once again to knock down the two single storey commercial units and develop a building made up of three, two bed flats in their place. The plans would also include parking for three cars.

Planning officers said: "The re-use of this site for residential purposes remains acceptable and would be less intrusive than the previous commercial use with respect to the amenities of nearby residents.

"The construction of three flats makes an efficient use of the site. The scheme will also help the Council to meet its housing delivery targets.

"The proposal is unlikely to raise any highway safety concerns given the previous use of the building as a commercial premises."
