WHAT is being billed as ‘one of the most intimate high profile events to date’ is to take place at Broughton Hall, Skipton.

Embsay born Justin Manville’s World Unplugged launched quieter concerts in Ibiza, a change from the island’s super clubs, and they soon became a great success, selling out within hours of being advertised.

Now, Justin, who played cricket for Yorkshire at a very young age before concentrating on music, is returning home, and bringing a World Unplugged concert with him.

He has teamed up with Broughton Hall for the event on November 1 which he says will feature many international artists. But, who they are will be revealed only to the limited number of 150 guests, who included in the price of the ticket will receive overnight accommodation.

The concert will be opened by Daisy Tempest, a niece of Roger Tempest, owner of Broughton Hall, with a debut performance of her original material.

Daisy is the partner of expert luthier, acoustic guitar maker Tom Sands, who will provide the acoustic guitars on the night.

“World Unplugged concerts started in Ibiza after I brought the concept of an intimate setting, campfire type performance, whether it be in a forest, an under ground cave lined with Persian rugs and candles or a wild mountain side villa, of story telling and acoustic music in contrast to the colossal dance scene. The shows sell out within a few hours on Ibiza, this is the level of demand for something calmer and more connective, away from the super clubs,” he said.

But, just because the events are small in numbers, it does not mean they are small in atmosphere.

“We have a great following, in fact some of the world’s biggest DJs have started to attend these intimate events due to the standard of performer we have at our shows. The artists who have played these events range from super famous international house hold names to unknown up and coming talent but always with an edge. We are about family, community, real connection through original music and art, we don’t compromise on the performance or the theatre surrounding the occasions we create. This is why we chose Broughton Hall,” he said.
