FIREFIGHTERS managed to save a portable MRI scanner after the truck it was on caught fire.

Crews from Raistrick and Huddersfield were called to Junction 22 of the M62 at around 9pm last night.

A road closure was in place while emergency services worked at the scene.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said it's thought the brakes of the truck overheated, causing a fire to the wheel.

Firefighters used hose reels to put the fire out and were at the scene for around 40 minutes.

Thankfully they managed to save the scanner, an expensive piece of medical equipment.
