Knitted creations of lamas and cacti are currently on display at Chirk Library.

They have all been handmade by Gillian Hughes from Chirk, a skilled and creative knitter, whose weird and wonderful knitted creations are frequently on display at the library.

Her work has included everything from knitted amigurumi puzzles to beautiful lace shawls and teapot holders.

Gillian takes her inspiration for her creations from the books at Chirk Library.

Proceeds from her current display of cacti and lamas will go to the Erlas Victorian Walled Garden in Wrexham, a charitable organisation, led by a dedicated team of volunteers.

The project provides specialised training and support for adults with learning and mental health disabilities. The organisation also promotes the conservation, protection and restoration of the Erlas walled garden, which is believed to date back to the early 1800s.
