A FORMER Bradford City star has helped launch a new football programme at a school in the district.

Nathan Clarke, who played two seasons for the Bantams between 2015 and 2017, is leading the programme at Fulneck School in Pudsey.

He will work with PE staff to deliver three days a week of sessions, and also work closely with students on the sports scholarship programme.

He said: “I’m really excited about this opportunity to help move the standard of football forward at Fulneck and to get more young people involved in the game, regardless of their ability.”

He was joined by England international James Tarkowski at Fulneck for the launch, where they delivered a series of training masterclasses.

Paul Taylor, principal at Fulneck, added: “The evidence that physical health impacts positively on mental well-being is now overwhelming, especially when the exercise takes place within a team context.

“Whether our pupils go on to play professionally, or for their local team, encouraging a love of sport is central to the mission of Fulneck School.”
