PLANS to turn a city centre office building into flats has been approved by Bradford Council.

Two applications for the annex at Broadacre House were submitted earlier this summer.

They were for the conversion of the existing building into 20 flats, and alterations to the building's roof to create an extra eight flats.

Both applications, submitted by Kishen Parmar of Liv3 West Street Leeds, have been approved by planning officers.

Broadacre House was the former offices of Yorkshire Water, but in 2011 the large, multi storey section of the building was sold and converted into a Premier Inn. Occupancy of the annex building has dwindled in recent years.

The building would retain its 10 space car park.

Planning officers said: "The site is located in a highly sustainable location within Bradford City Centre within walking distance of public transport hubs and so is considered to be sustainable in that residents would not be reliant on a private vehicle to be actively involved in society."
