On Friday 27th September Bradford social enterprise café, The Canteen, will host a Macmillan coffee morning.

A group of 16 students, aged 16-19 and on the aspire2work Catering and Hospitality course, will provide the service and prepare an exciting array of home made treats and drinks. Through this initiative, the students will get a taste of events management and customer service in a practical, real-world work environment.

Everyone is welcome at the event and all proceeds will be donated to Macmillan.

The Canteen and adjoining Cookery school was established to encourage young people into the catering and hospitality industry, combining qualifications with practical training sessions. It is based on Cheapside in the city centre and run by training group Aspire-igen and the Midland Hotel, which sits opposite.

Learners are also able to develop their skills by helping the team cater for meetings and events held in Aspire-igen’s Event Space.

The coffee morning will begin at 9.00am and run until 11.30am.

Ahead of the event, Catering and Hospitality Manager Joe Grant said “if you like cake with a feel good factor then you can’t get better than this. Not only will the proceeds go to a fantastic cause, the skills used to prepare for and host this event can be used as evidence for our students to progress in their qualification.”

“From the moment you're diagnosed, through your treatment and beyond, Macmillan are right there with you, offering emotional, physical and financial support. I encourage everyone to come and support this worthy cause and enjoy this coffee morning with The Canteen.”
