AN ART GALLERY threw open its doors for a day of arts and crafts.

Cartwright Hall, in Lister Park, was celebrating the final day of its popular Peter Rabbit: Mischief and Mayhem exhibition, which has been open since May.

Families were able to get involved and see a range of different crafts, including henna body art by award winning henna artist, Connie Tu; hand made sterling silver jewellery by Ruth Sutcliffe and botanically influenced 3D stained glass by Samantha Yates.

The sun came out for the day and enticed families to enjoy a walk around the grounds of the hall before coming inside to try something creative or get their face painted.

Sonja Kielty, curator at Cartwright Hall, said: "The whole day was to celebrate the end of the Peter Rabbit exhibition that we have had on tour.

"We do like to promote local businesses and had handmade crafts and arts with us all day.

"We were lucky with the weather, so it was great for everyone who came into the park."
