A CYCLING conference aimed at women and girls is being held in Bradford to celebrate the Women Elite Road Race of the Yorkshire 2019 UCI Road World Championships starting in the district.

The conference on September 19 from 9.30am to 4.30pm at the Dubrovnik Hotel will have a host of cycling themed presentations, workshops, cycling activities and information stalls.

Delegates will be welcomed to the conference by Sam Keighley the Strategic Director of the Yorkshire Sport Foundation.

There will be presentations by British Cycling, Cycling UK, City Connect, Breeze Champion Judy Robinson and Karen Cleavin from Active Society Birmingham.

There will also be the chance to have a go at cycling yoga and cycle rides in the near by Lister Park as well as a bike maintenance station.

The conference is free and although specifically aimed at women it is open to all. Lunch and refreshments will also be provided.

Attendees are encouraged to come on their bikes and secure bike storage is available.

“We are really proud that Bradford has been chosen as the start location for the Women Elite Road Race of the UCI Road World Championships and women’s cycling is on the up and this conference is the ideal chance for people to come together to celebrate this.”

The prestigious cycle race comes the Bradford district on Saturday September 28 when City Park in Bradford city centre will see the start of the Women Elite Road Race, which goes through Lister Park, Shipley, the bottom of Baildon and Hollins Hill.

The Men Elite Road Race also comes through the district via Ilkley and Addingham on Sunday September 29.
