For this week’s remember when feature we are taking a step back to 1983, where hundreds of music lovers flocked to the amphitheatre at Bradford University to enjoy the very well organised midsummer music festival.
The festival took shape following months of hard graft from the Bradford Centre Against Unemployment and the 1 in 12 Club. The music satisfied all tastes, from gentle pop in the form of 20th Century Hats to punk with Anti-System and The Toys.
From the faultless PA system to the ideal setting in the University grounds Bradford's Rock Festival was considered an undisputed success.
Police had not been asked to man the private concert but did say that there had been “no trouble” among fans.
