THE volume will be turned up in Baildon this Bank Holiday weekend, as the Shipley Harley Davidson Rally rolls into town for its 40th anniversary.

Bands will be playing across various Baildon bars during the weekend, but Sunday is the star attraction, with the famous Charity Toy Rideout, where riders bring along a toy to donate to the BRI, set to attract around 800 riders and a crowd of thousands.

Secretary of the Baildon Harley Partnership, David Shaw, cannot wait, and he said: "There's events on over the four days up at Baildon Rugby Club. We've got about 250 bikes and people booked in to camp up there, but are expecting about 400 when you factor in people paying on the gate.

"Members of bike groups will be coming from as far away as Holland and Germany for that."

Sunday will see numbers swell further, with Mr Shaw saying: "Our Charity Toy Rideout starts at 1pm and we're expecting about 800 people to be part of it, with bikes or scooters.

"If the weather's good on Sunday, like it was in 2017, we're hoping for about 2,000 people to turn up overall for the Rideout and the open day up at the rugby club, where people can bring along their bikes to show off.

"There'll be big crowds this year as it's the 40th anniversary of the rally and the 50th of Shipley's Wrecking Crew, a famous Harley Davidson club."

It is a weekend for music lovers too, with Mr Shaw explaining: "We've got lots of bands on from today until Sunday, whether that be at Cafe Bar 12, The Malt Shovel, The Bulls Head or Copper Beech.

"Northgate is closed for the Rideout, which goes past Harewood House and finishes up at the rugby club.

"But it's also closed on the Sunday so people can have a safe pedestrianised zone where they can mill about and watch their favourite bands."
