WEST Yorkshire Police has confirmed officers were called out to a property in Birstall after a gun was reported to be on the premises.
It has said in a statement that the original report came through on Monday afternoon, but reports on social media suggest that a police presence was on the scene yesterday afternoon too.
It also said that officers are still searching the area.
In that statement, a spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called to a premises on Gelderd Road at 4:53pm on Monday, August 19 to reports of a hand gun and ammunition being found.
"Officers are searching the area to see if any illegal firearms are present and if any offences have been committed."
