A CLASSIC car event held in City Park over the weekend has helped raise over £1,500 for local charities.

Bradford Classic, which saw 115 models of car parked in Centenary Square and City Park, this year teamed with a number of local charities.

Over £1,000 was raised by Sporting Bears for Bradford Royal Infirmary's neo natal unit, £250 was raised by by Ace Historic Motorsport for the Lord Mayors Appeal, which this year is raising funds for Child Bereavement UK and £50 was raised by Classic Events for Prostate Cancer.

When gift Aid is taken into account, the total will be in excess of £1,500.

Organiser Mike Cowlam said: "This is the first time that the Bradford Classic has worked with charitable organisations and we are delighted at the success."

This year's event, held on Saturday, included classic Minis, this year celebrating its 60th anniversary, to huge American convertibles and pickups.
