POLICE are appealing for more information from residents following the attempted murder of a family of four at a house in Heckmondiwke earlier this week.

Detectices are continuing their investigation into the arson attack on a house in Stonedene Court, Heckmondwike, at 4.13am on Sunday, August 11.

A 17-year-old boy who leapt from an upstairs window to escape the blaze remains in hospital in a serious but stable conditions with burn injuries, and a woman and two girls, aged 11 and 16, also had to jump to safety from windows.

A number of arrests have been made over the past week, but police still need more residents in Heckmondwike to come forward with information.

On Thursday, a 21-year-old man and a woman, 37, both from the Heckmondwike area, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody.

A Dewsbury man, 19, arrested earlier in the week has been bailed, and two women, aged 21 and 17, and a man, 22, have been released without charge.

Detective Chief Inspector Sharron Kaye of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We have a number of active enquiries ongoing into this incident which has caused shock in the local community.

"We have made arrests but are very much still appealing for information.

“I would ask anyone in Heckmondwike or the surrounding area who we have not spoken to who can assist to make contact with us.

“As things stand a 17-year-old remains in hospital having suffered some very serious injuries, while his mother and sisters also suffered smoke inhalation after having to jump from their own house.
