HEALTH chiefs are reminding people where they can access expert medical treatment during the August bank holiday weekend.

Dr Andy Withers, clinical chair for Bradford Districts Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “We can all do our bit to make sure we stay well and help our NHS over the bank holiday weekend. By choosing the right service, we can make sure that services are there for the people who need them the most.

“For common health conditions such as hay fever, minor allergies and sunburn your local pharmacist can provide help and advice on the best treatments for you. You don’t need to book an appointment to see a pharmacist for advice and many pharmacies offer a confidential consultation room to discuss issues privately.

“You can also find information on common illnesses and injuries by visiting the NHS website at www.nhs.uk. The site can also help you find your nearest local pharmacy.”

To find a list of local pharmacies that are open over the bank holiday, people should visit https://www.bradforddistrictsccg.nhs.uk/your-services/pharmacies/ for Bradford district.

If people feel unwell over the holidays, they can check their symptoms using the NHS website www.nhs.uk, which also includes a services finder to help people find the most appropriate local service nearest to them.

“If you need urgent care during the bank holiday, use the NHS 111 service by visiting 111.nhs.uk online or by dialing 111 on your phone. NHS 111 is a free service which runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“A&E can help if you have an emergency such as severe chest pain or difficulty breathing, severe bleeding or a serious head injury,” added Dr Withers.
