AN inquest into the death of an elderly woman who was hit by a car in Swain House opened today.
Bradford Coroners' Court heard Ethel Hobbins, 89, had suffered chest and abdominal injuries in the incident on the morning of Wednesday, August 7.
The short hearing heard Mrs Hobbins had walked to the junction of King's Road and Thorndale Rise to cross and it appears she had stepped into the road, when a black vehicle travelling along the road, away from Bradford, collided with her.
Passers-by attempted CPR, but Mrs Hobbins was pronounced dead at the scene.
The inquest was adjourned until December 5 this year.
Last week, Councillor Rachel Sunderland (Liberal Democrat, Bolton and Undercliffe) said the incident was a “tragedy. She said: “Any loss of life on our district’s roads is a tragedy, and this is particularly sad."
