A FORMER Post Office will be converted into housing if new plans are approved next week.
Bradford Council's Bradford Area Planning Panel will discuss an application to convert 844 Cleckheaton Road, Oakenshaw, into a five bed "house in multiple occupation."
The application by Lee Bromby, calls for the shop front of the former Post Office to be removed and the building converted to look more domestic, with new windows added.
The Post Office also had attached accommodation, but the level will be increased under the new plans.
The Council has received 14 objections to the application, with residents raising concerns over parking, traffic and the loss of a Post Office.
But planning officers have recommended the plans be approved, saying: "It is apparent that parking is a concern for the local residents, but this application also has to be measured against what could currently occur, and the combination of a residential and retail use is likely to result in more demand for parking and vehicular activity than the proposed development.
"The post office has been closed for some time and there are no planning policies that could seek to resist the change of use in this location."
The Panel meets in City Hall at 10am on Tuesday.
