ITS not known what this group of men were doing, or indeed where or when it was taken. We do however know their names and in some cases, what they did for a living - including one described as a ‘poacher’, and if we were to hazard a guess, it may well have been taken in Skipton woods.

They are, from left: Archie Sloane, a dentist; Baron Aldridge, who sold fishing tackle on Coach Street, Skipton; Charlie Whatham, of Skipton Castle; Arthur Rycroft, a printer with the Craven Herald; George Stirk, also of the Craven Herald; Tom Clarke, Skipton Castle Keeper, and poacher; Fred Holderness, and Charlie Baldwin.Photographs reproduced by kind permission of the Ellwood family, Mrs V.
