A WEST Yorkshire company is celebrating after winning Manufacturer of the Year in the recent Bradford Means Business Awards.

Family-owned Cardinal Ltd, has been a leading manufacturer and fit-out business for nearly 30 years, and much of their success is due to a commitment to investment and innovation over the years.

Group MD, Tim Considine, said: “When we started the company, manufacturing was a lot more simplified than it is now – a lot more programmed machinery, CNC machines, and robot welders. The technical advances have been quite substantial, including the software that feeds into those machines.”

In order to better serve their clients, they now use Virtual Reality technology during the early design stages of a project to assist the manufacturing process, which allows customers to interact with their product and see the changes they need to make, before it moves on to the prototype stage.

Tim says: “By doing this, it considerably shortens the time to market, saving time and money, and, ultimately, benefits the customer.

“We are always trying to evolve the business, evolve the technology, keep the process short and accurate, and save cost.

“We’ve become more of a bespoke manufacturer rather than the large-scale runs that we used to do, but targeting different sectors, which gives us continuity.”

Cardinal has been involved with the retail sector for the last 30 years, and has continued to grow the business with its increasing involvement, in the last five years, with hotel chains, healthcare, and the leisure industry.

The award-winning company has been ideally positioned to witness the resurgence of Bradford as a business hub, and to capture that growth. They are committed to celebrating the increase of manufacturing in the area, supporting the local community, and providing jobs for local people.
