A TEN-year-old from Bradford has been crowned the winner of a Yorkshire-wide NHS competition, celebrating the work of the health service.
Hafsah Ali, a pupil at Beckfoot Heaton Primary, designed a poster saying thank you to the NHS.
She was crowned winner in Health Education England Step into the NHS competition, which aimed to raise awareness of the range of roles in the NHS, challenge gender stereotypes and encourage more people into careers in the NHS, and 2019 is the first year it has been held for primary school pupils to enter.
Hafsah said: “I am proud of being the Yorkshire winner, and I’m especially proud of the words inside the poem on my poster.
“The words are important because people in the NHS work so hard - they are pretty amazing because they save lives.”
As a prize for her success, Hafash received Amazon vouchers to spend on whatever she chooses.
Zoe Mawson, Hafsah’s headteacher, said she was a “worthy winner” and had done the school proud.
