NEARLY 400 people took part in a trail run in support of Manorlands Hospice.

Runners of all ages tackled a testing route around the Bolton Abbey estate.

Participants could choose from a 10k or 5k course.

All proceeds from Sunday’s event will go to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice. It is not yet known how much was raised.

Organisers said they were delighted with the success of the day – and that feedback had been positive. “It was a beautiful day – we were very lucky with the weather,” said Manorlands community fundraiser, Molly Ralphson.

“Many of the runners commented on how much they’d enjoyed the event. There was quite a big hill towards the end, and people said that while it was tough, it was also one of the most scenic routes they had taken on.”

All participants received a medal, plus fruit donated by Keelham Farm Shop. Alex Hardie, from main sponsor AEH Electrical Contractors, handed out the medals.

The first 10k runner home was Lee Athersmith, in 40 minutes 50 seconds, and first woman finisher was Sarah Tolkin in 51:34 In the 5k, first home was Rachel Bailey in 23:36. First male finisher was Joseph Lawson, in 25:57.

The event was staged in conjunction with Ilkley Harriers.
