A Bradford Garden Centre is hosting an ‘Audience with' an award-winning Barnsley author to raise funds for its charity of the year.

Tong Garden Centre will host an audience with Milly Johnson, Sunday Times' top five bestselling author and "queen of feel-good fiction", on September 26. All proceeds on the night will be going to the National Literacy Trust project, Bradford Stories.

Jo Dales, the centre's marketing manager, said: "We're excited to hear about Milly's incredible journey from trainee accountant to bestselling author of romantic fiction and to listen to her read from her new novel, The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew."

The event starts at 2pm in the garden centre's new events zone.

Tickets cost £12, or £25 including a signed hardback copy of Milly's latest bestseller, The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew.

Milly Johnson said community and literacy issues are close to her heart.

She said: "There is nothing more important than being able to read in life - it opens so many doors."

Milly Johnson has written sixteen novels and sold millions of copies. Her novels always feature friendship, family, love, betrayal, good food and that little bit of magic in life that sometimes visits the unsuspecting. Milly is also a columnist for her local newspaper, a professional joke writer, poet and after-dinner speaker.
