CONTRACTORS working on Hard Ings Road been praised for their efforts to keep on schedule and minimise traffic disruption.
Local councillors say they are united in support for the workers despite the delays faced by drivers as they negotiate roadworks.
Disruption is expected to continue until May next year as Hard Ings Road is widened to two lanes each way, along with pedestrian and cycle improvements.
Bradford Council is spearheading the £10.3 million project to help improve traffic flow through and around Keighley.
The three district councillors representing Keighley Central ward this week stressed the importance of completing the Hard Ings Road improvements despite the disruption.
Former Lord Mayor Cllr Zafar Ali said: “It can sometimes take half an hour to get to town, or 20 minutes to get from the centre of town to somewhere like B&Q.
“It’s not easy for people, particularly those going to work or living in the area.
“We need to be patient and take half an hour for our journey.
“It’s a chaotic situation but there is no easy solution.”
