THE Living Well team in Bradford will be playing Change4Life’s Disney-inspired 10 Minute Shake Up games with children before each of the free summer films being shown in City Park.

Living Well is supporting Bradford UNESCO City of Film’s annual Bradford Family Film Festival.

Films will be shown on the big screen in City Park every Wednesday morning in August and he activities will begin 20 minutes before the film starts.

Change4Life, 10 Minute Shake Up games launched in July 2019 by Public Health England (PHE) and Disney UK, are designed to help children get active for 60 minutes a day.

The 10-minute bursts of active fun are inspired by their favourite characters and stories from Disney and Pixar films.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Portfolio Holder for Healthy People and Places said: “Living Well, an initiative for Bradford district and Craven, is about helping people become more active, showing them how to make changes that can improve their health and wellbeing.

“The Living Well team will be showing children and families how to become more active, playing some of the 10-minute Shake Up games before the films start.

“There will be certificates for children who join in and also information for lots of other Disney inspired Shake Up games children can play with their friends throughout the summer.”

Currently, just 20 per cent of boys and 14 per cent of girls meet the national recommendation of 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day.

But simple activities like active play, scooting or walking count too, so by encouraging these, parents can help their children become more active.

Family films to be shown on the Big Screen at 11am begin with Wallace and Gromit’s ‘A Grand Day Out’ & The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part on Wednesday, August 7.

These will be followed by ‘A Cat in Paris’ on August 14, ‘Incredibles 2’ on August 21 and ‘The Red Balloon’ & Gene Wilder’s ‘Willy Wonka’ on August 28.
