FIREFIGHTERS from Bradford have raised over £11,000 on their Brid to Brad Dash walk.

The money will be split between three charities, The Firefighters Charity, Lymphoma Action and The Teenage Cancer Trust St James hospital.

White Watch from Bradford Fire Station walked more than 75 miles from Bridlington pier to the fire station at the beginning of the month. They then held a Brid to Brad Bash social to raise even more money.

Spokesman Craig Kettlewell said the team would like to thank everyone for their support.

He said: "It was a great fundraiser with lots of sore feet at the end. After a 5am start and a long first day we arrived at Tadcaster fire station about 11.40pm.

"Slightly more miles than the 51 originally thought, we clocked up 57 miles by the time we arrived at Tadcaster.

"After a night's sleep on deflated air mattresses and patching up our feet we set off back to Bradford.

"Leaving at 8.30am we arrived at Bradford fire station at 7pm to a packed out engine house with around 300 people ready to welcome us home.

"Aside from the many blisters, a few old injuries and some overgrown fields the event ran smoothly."
