BRADFORD children who receive free schools meals can enjoy a host of holiday events at the Millside Centre.

The Grattan Road centre launches its first ever summer programme of workshops for children.

Centre manager Furaha Mussanzi said: "We are so thrilled to host these workshops and activities in our centre for kids who are on free school meals. There are lots of special activities taking place over the summer holidays which will be fun."

The sessions start on Monday, July 29, and are held each weekday apart from Tuesdays. They run for five weeks.

The programme includes cook and eat sessions from 11.30am to 1.30pm, followed by an afternoon workshop of either dance, creative writing/radio production, arts and crafts and a youth cafe.

The centre is closed on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28.

Booking is essential for the cook and eat sessions which can host up to eight children.

There will be workshops in learning how to cook healthy meals while the arts and crafts sessions will incorporate making creating items to take home. There are also sessions on up-cycling old items into new objects.

The youth cafe is being run by community workers from Sharing Voices.
