BRADFORD’S Theatre in the Mill is presenting an early look at shows heading to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer.

The Edinburgh Preview Weekender, from Friday to Sunday, features a world premiere preview of Rich Kids - A History of Shopping Malls in Tehran, a contemporary performance from the company behind the Fringe First award-winning The Believers Are But Brothers; performance artist Demi Nandhra’s Life Is No Laughing Matter, about mental illness and radical attempts at a cure; surreal comedy from Daniel Nicholas; and Only Expansion, an augmented audio experience from artist Duncan Speakman in which visitors explore their surroundings with headphones which capture and manipulate sounds around them.

Audience members can buy a festival wristband giving them access to a range of events including stand-up, contemporary performance and installations. In line with its mission to ensure the programme is open to all, Theatre in the Mill aimed to make this first weekender event as affordable as possible, so local audiences can see this varied selection of work before the Edinburgh audiences even get their seats, at a fraction of the price.

Across three venues and three days, the Edinburgh Preview Weekender will also feature comedy from Isma Almas’s show About a Buoy, exploring transracial adoption, gender, religion, sexuality and race, and a live jam of music, video and poetry in a piece of multimedia theatre mixed fresh every night from Harry Josephine Giles & Co.

Katherina Radeva from Two Destination Language will also be popping up around the festival with Lone Wolves, “an act of resistance against marginalisation”.

Jyothi Giles, Senior Producer at Theatre in the Mill, says: “Everything we support and develop at TiM reflects our world in new and inspiring ways and this line-up is no exception. Across three days we will be presenting brand new performances from a range of the most exciting artists creating work today across the TiM Studio, Gallery II and our new basement space, TiM Below.”

The venue is also inviting audiences to get into the spirit, hang out and relax in its indoor and outdoor café-bars, where food is provided by chef Ben Mills, who will be using a homemade tandoor oven to make a different type of flatbread each day.

Friday's events include Rich Kids - A History of Shopping Malls in Tehran; Life is No Laughing Matter; and Lone Wolves.

Saturday sees Drone, from Harry Josephine Giles & Co, in Gallery II at 6.30pm; About A Buoy, TiM Below, 6.30pm;

Rich Kids - A History of Shopping Malls in Tehran, Studio, 7.30pm; Life is No Laughing Matter, Gallery II, 9pm;
