A fresh decorative look had joined the aroma of freshly baked bread as Hagenbachs embarked on its first major refit since Bradford Interchange reopened in 1973.

Refrigerated counters had been fitted throughout the bakery where customers could purchase a wide selection of bread including French rolls, granary loaves, or even select a hot delight from the new takeaway counter.

Besides the new look, the outlet's new enlarged Continental buttery restaurant was now serving a wide range of products including cream cakes and Danish pastries, made on the premises.

Cutting the ribbon and presenting cakes to Bradford Royal Infirmary’s nursing staff was the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress Mr and Mrs Ajeeb. Seating in the buttery restaurant had been increased to around 140, and customers could now enjoy a hot plate of fish and chips or chilli.
