Tributes have come flooding in for a Motherwell mum as she tragically passed away in a suspected drug overdose just weeks after she gave birth to a new baby boy.

Rebecca Tollan, 23, died in the early hours of  Monday morning in a Bellshill flat.

Cops confirmed they were alerted to the fact that Rebecca had taken ill but she passed away before medical action could take place.

Officers also revealed two men were rushed to Monklands University Hospital as a precaution as they were also in the flat at the time.

The death is being treated as unexplained.

Now friends and loved ones of tragic Rebecca - who is understood to have had her son less than two weeks ago - have remembered the loving mother in social media messages.

One friend wrote on her timeline: "I love you beautiful girl lots of love your best friend".

Another commented: "So heartbreaking".

One wrote: "Absolutely gutted to hear this. 

"You always were so nice to my wee girl in the butchers and I’ve no idea how I’m going to have to explain this to her - so sorry for your family’s loss".

A fourth added: "So sad gone to soon fly high angel thoughts are with ure family xxx".

A spokesman for the force said: "Around 1.15am on Monday officers were made aware of a 23-year-old woman had taken unwell and died at a property in Bellshill.

"A post-mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death which is currently being treated as unexplained.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

"Two men, aged 21 and 26, who were in the house at the time were also taken to Monklands University Hospital as a precaution but they are not thought to be seriously ill."
