RECYCLING banks have helped raise almost £28,000 for the Firefighters Charity in the past year.
Throughout West Yorkshire there are a number of clothing and book recycling bins where people can donate items.
A new report by the West Yorkshire Fire Authority has revealed that between April 2018 and March 2019 items left in the bins have helped raise £27,779 for the Firefighters Charity - which offers support to injured or ill firefighters.
Moors fires proved to be 'perfect storm' - committee toldOver 110,245 kg of clothing were collected at banks at fire stations, raising £24,254.
And 26,765 kg of books were collected at fire stations - raising £1,338.
There are also a number of bins at school and community sites. At these 25,046 kg of items were collected, raising £2,187.
