A YOUNG people’s art group based at the Impressions Gallery have created their own event to tackle plastic pollution and the effect it is having on the environment.
The New Focus group, based at the City Park art gallery, will hold the Teentastic We Hate Plastc event to empower young people to become vocal and passionate about protecting the environment.
The project is inspired by the Our Plastic Ocean exhibition hosted at Impressions which shines a light on the global crisis of marine plastic pollution.
On the project, the group visited a recycling site and connected with other local plastic-free initiatives.
It aims to give young people the confidence to speak up about plastic pollution, and give people examples of how they can reduce their plastic use.
There will be a virtual reality experience, the chance to contribute to a growing artwork, and the chance to have their say on the issue.
All teenagers are invited to attend the event on Saturday, July 27, at the Impressions Gallery in City Park to take part in the free event.
