A man who helped bring the Dales Way to life will mark its 50th anniversary with an illustrated talk on July 4.
Colin Speakman will tell the story of how the Dales Way cameto be with an illustrated talk from 7.30pm at Baildon Walkers Are Welcome (WAW) AGM in Wesleys Hall, Baildon Methodist Hall.
The 80 mile route from Ilkley to the shores of Lake Windermere, with a link path from the centre of Bradford, is one of the UK’s most popular and best loved long distance routes.
Chris Flecknoe, Secretary of Baildon WAW said: "The Dales Way has been, for many people in our area, an introduction to longer distance walks and has offered wonderful day walks. If you have done the walk, you probably used a guide book written by Colin."
