A MAN who sued Bradford businessman Mitu Misra because he said he owed him nearly £27 million has been declared bankrupt after he lost his High Court fight.

Safestyle UK co-founder John Ross, who turned down a £1 million settlement offer from Mr Misra, was left to pick up lawyers' bills estimated to run into several million pounds.

The London Gazette today published the bankruptcy order for Mr Ross, of Doncaster. The bankruptcy petition was heard at Barnsley County Court.

Mr Ross claimed that Mr Misra had "reneged on their deal" and said that "betrayal" pushed him into insolvency.

Judge John Kimbell dismissed his claim against Mr Misra in January after analysing evidence at a High Court trial in London late last year. The judge said Mr Ross would have to pick up Mr Misra's legal bills plus his own. Lawyers for Mr Misra said their total bill was £1.8 million.
