SEVERAL Shipley youngsters joined blacksmiths in the National Coal Mining Museum’s workshop to bring the official Ignite Yorkshire logo they designed to life
It was done to mark one year since the launch of the £1million Ignite Yorkshire project, a four-year initiative to engage young people with Yorkshire’s rich industrial heritage.
The project has helped over 500 teenagers across the three ridings to connect with people, buildings, waterways and stories that represent Yorkshire’s industrial past.
From this, they have been inspired to create everything from structures to art.
Marie Millward, Ignite Yorkshire project manager, commented: “Ignite isn’t about teaching young people, it’s about creating experiences that involve them every step of the way.”
