A CAR dealership on a busy Bradford road will become a “striking new flagship facility” for Land Rover after refurbishment plans were approved.
An application to expand and refurbish the Farnell Land Rover site on Shipley Airedale Road was submitted to Bradford Council by Vertu Motors in April.
The application said the changes would create over 11 extra full time jobs at the site, and would include more parking and electric charging points.
It added: “A significant number of jobs will be created directly as a result of this significant investment by Vertu Motors PLC in the city of Bradford.
Hospital could be flattened to make way for housing
“The development of this site is required in order to meet the 2020 capacities and corporate vision set out by Jaguar Land Rover.
“Through delivering this project Vertu Motors are not only providing more jobs but also safeguarding their current colleagues employment for the foreseeable future.
“The scheme offers to deliver a well detailed and contemporary building that will enhance the area. The proposal offers an improved street scene and creates a more hospitable environment to pedestrians and cyclists.”
Planning officers have now approved the scheme, with a report saying: "It is the Council's aim to improve the appearance of key transport corridors such as this one and this proposal would contribute positively towards this objective.
"It is clearly a substantial investment by the company and the full refurbishment of the facilities will enhance the existing operation of this site and provide a better experience for customers and employees."
