Commuters travelling on the M62 Westbound may face delays as urgent repairs to the carriageway take place.
The repairs have been undertaken between the slips at J27 near Gildersome.
The workforce had aimed to complete the work by 9.45am but now, after workers found a fault, lane one will be closed throughout the day for safety reasons.
Plans are being put in place for repairs to take place during the roadworks period tonight with the closure of lane one and two.
