THE Bradford East African Community (BEAC) are meeting at 5pm this Saturday in the Bread and Roses Café on North Parade to try to raise money for an environmental project in the Congo.

The Okapi is an endangered animal in the country and the group are trying to help save it.

BEAC is a community of refugees from a number of countries in Africa, including Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya and Zimbabwe.

Many of these countries have suffered political turmoil, which has forced people to leave their homes

Bradford has kindly offered homes to a number of new communities in the last 10 years and BEAC are an example of those refugees.

Refugee Week is a national event and is running in Bradford from Saturday.

There will be vegetarian food available at the Okapi fundraiser and you can book by contacting Clive Whittaker and Asumani Susho at Community Action on 07964 352663 or emailing Clivew@cabad.org.uk
