PLANS to introduce “no waiting” restrictions on a Thornton road are likely to be abandoned.

Bradford Council had planned to introduce traffic measures that would prevent people from parking on Leaventhorpe Lane, near Beckfoot Thornton school, on Monday to Friday from 7.30am – 5pm.

The restrictions would be in place from September 1 to July 31, and were planned to improve traffic on the narrow road during the school run.

But five residents had objected to the proposals, saying the changes would leave them unable to park outside their homes.

They suggested a residents parking scheme be introduced instead.

A report going to the Bradford West Area Committee, meeting in City Hall on Wednesday suggests that the Council abandon the proposals. It adds: “It is noted that more consultation with residents of Leaventhorpe Lane is required before a scheme can be progressed.”

The committee meets at 6pm, and will be discussing eight other proposed Traffic Orders in the constituency.
