A CONSULTATION on plans to ban barbecues in the district's moorland areas ends next week.
Bradford Council proposed a Public Space Protection Order that would ban the lighting of fires or barbecues on moorland including Ilkley Moor, Baildon Moor and the moorlands around Haworth.
It followed a number of devastating fires on Ilkley Moor, some of which were believed to have been caused by careless barbecue use.
Anyone caught breaking the order will be committing a crime, and would be forced to pay a fine of up to £100.
Councillors voted to push forward with the order at a meeting last month, and it went out to a four week public consultation. That consultation ends on Tuesday.
