A BAND from the Bradford district have secured a fantastic achievement, after being named "Best Wedding Ceremony Act UK" at the bookentertainment.com 2019 awards.

Saltaire-based three piece, Live Lounge Music, had been surprised to be named as the best wedding ceremony act in the North of England, so were stunned to pick up the national award after a public vote.

Band member Howard Nash, who plays an electric violin-type instrument, spoke to the Telegraph & Argus in the aftermath of their success.

He said: "It was announced at 3pm on Tuesday that we'd won. We were not expecting to win the national award so it really is fantastic.

"We're quite well connected with other musicians in Yorkshire and Bradford, as it's a really supportive community.

"Your preview article, people who've seen us at weddings and gigs, as well as friends and family, meant there was a good pool of people that helped us win.

"We did keep posting on Facebook too, counting down to the voting deadline."

The band which comprises of Mr Nash, fellow string instrument player Stu Partridge and singer Michaela Thickett have got plenty to keep themselves busy over the next few months.

Mr Nash said: "We've got quite a few weddings coming up in summer, so they're delighted that they chosen the best wedding ceremony act in the UK to play for them.

"We're doing a few dates at Saltaire Brewery, on Father's Day (June 16) and at the Beer Festival in September (13-14), then a date at the Saltaire Bandstand on August 4.

"We've got a 70th birthday in Holmfirth, monthly dates at the Salt Cellar in Saltaire, a dinner date at the Midland Hotel on June 15, as well as an outdoor event for the staff at Emerald Publishing in Bingley.

"It's a mixture of private and corporate events, though I suppose it's a bit of everything really."

Speaking about the future of Live Lounge Music, Mr Nash said: "We are happy with what we do, and weddings are really good for us, so the more of them we get the better.

"We mainly do Yorkshire but we have a wedding date in Manchester next month and we've gone up as far as Newcastle and down to the Midlands in the past.

"Now we've got the tag of best wedding ceremony act in the country under our belts, we'll maybe get to go even further afield in the UK."
