FRESHLY cooked meat products and Yorkshire produce including craft beer and cocktails will take centre stage as a Bradford garden centre prepares to host its annual Butchers' BBQ Tasting Day.

In anticipation of seasonal sunshine, the Food Hall butchery team at Tong Garden Centre will host a BBQ tasting event between 11am and 3pm on Saturday June 29.

The event will see the in house butchery team barbequing a range of home-made burgers, sausages and kebabs for visitors to taste, including a limited edition tandoori mango turkey grill stick.

Visitors will have the opportunity to vote on whether the grill stick, made from prime British turkey and Bradford based Marrds' new mango-infused tandoori marinade, gets a permanent place in the Food Hall's seasonal BBQ range.

Tong's Food and Gift Manager, Janice Astbury said: "We'd love to see a Marrds-inspired BBQ grill stick in the Food Hall, but it's up to our customers to decide. Will it get your vote?"

The BBQ food will be complemented by tasters of Yorkshire Heart Brewery's ales, Marrds' Marinades, Fruity Tipples' vodka based cocktails as well as chutneys and sauces from the Cottage Delight range.

The butchery team of five make fresh produce daily both for the Food Hall and the 300 seater restaurant.

Everyone who votes for the turkey grill stick will be entered into a prize draw to win a hamper of BBQ produce.
