Four men are to go on trial today (Tuesday) charged with conspiracy to murder following an alleged shooting incident in Bradford.

Usman Nawaz, 24, formerly of Oak Lane, Manningham, Bradford, now at an address in Blackburn; Mohammed Yasin, 25, of Braithwaite Avenue, Keighley; Hasanain Murtaza, 23, of Highfield Drive, Heaton, Bradford; and Sakib Ditta, 24, of Greystones Drive, Keighley, all plead not guilty to the charge.

They are accused of conspiring to murder Rohid Ali between August 12 and 16, 2017.

On Monday, the jury of seven men and five women was sworn in to try the case which will be opened tomorrow morning by prosecuting barrister Kama Melly QC.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC, told the jurors it was “a very serious and important matter,” important to the community and to the defendants.

He said the trial should finish after three weeks but may go into a fourth week.

Miss Melly’s opening of the case will include an electronic presentation with CCTV footage.
