LOCAL artists and makers were given the chance to show off their unique work as part of a makers’ fair over the bank holiday.

Mek Summat was held at Caroline Street Social Club in Saltaire yesterday, and saw print makers, artists, and other crafters setting up stalls and selling their goods.

Hundreds of people attended the event, that had a very Yorkshire feel, with much of the artwork on sale celebrating Saltaire, Bradford or the wider County. Cushions celebrating Shipley’s clock tower were on sale alongside prints of Bradford landmarks. There was also locally produced food available during the day.

Arts trail welcomes hundreds to Saltaire

The market was one of a number of artistic events held in Saltaire over the weekend, as the village was hosting its annual Saltaire Arts Trail. Over three days a number of homes opened their doors to the public, who were invited in to see work by local artists. There was also a makers fair in Victoria Hall and there were art exhibitions in key Saltaire buildings such as the Saltaire United Reform Church.
