A LIMITED temporary ride will run today (Monday) at a miniature railway which was targeted by vandals on Saturday night.
Extensive damage was caused at the attraction, which is based at High Legh Garden Centre, and a justgiving page has been launched to raise £1,000 to improve security.
The railway said on its Facebook page today (Monday): "Thank you all for your kind messages and support following Saturday night's vandalism.
"Our team have been working hard all day yesterday and this morning, and will be continuing all day to replace track.
"Thanks to the hard-working volunteers and kind offers of help from the community a full length of track has now been relayed, and we will be open today with a limited temporary train ride."
The justgiving page said extensive damage had beeen caused to the tracks and containers.
It said: "The railway has recently been taken over after being closed for a period, and has undergone transformations to make it a great place to visit with families.
"At a peak time for the railway the damage has made the railway unusable. The vandals have damaged three sections of the track, therefore not even half-journeys can be made.
"The money raised will help improve the security at the railway, replace locks and look at installing further CCTV units. The money will also be used to repair the damage caused and enable the group to reopen quicker."
