BRADFORD youngster Mason Dixon has landed his first TV role in Sally Wainwright drama Gentleman Jack.
Mason, 12, from Woodside plays a boy called Alf Sowden in the eight-part series, which started on BBC1 last week, to rave reviews. The cast, headed by Suranne Jones as Halifax landowner Anne Lister, also includes Timothy West, Peter Davison and Stephanie Cole.
A pupil at Appleton Academy, Mason is the nephew of young Holme Wood actor Zak Sutcliffe, who is in popular CBBC show 4 O’Clock Club and was in the films Grimsby and Short Cut.
Matt Zina, principal of the Yorkshire School of Acting, where Mason and Zak attend classes, said: “This is a massive role and as a debut performance for a young actor, shows the strength of Mason's talent. He works incredibly hard. He has bags of confidence and an infectious personality. He is definitely one to watch."
