A MAN kicked and punched his now ex-wife in a row over a takeaway.
Usman Akram, 28, of Keighley Road, Bradford, appeared before Bradford Crown Court yesterday to be sentenced after pleading guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He and his then wife had an argument over finances after she ordered some takeaway food.
Akram pulled her to the floor and kicked and punched her, leaving her bruising and swelling to the face and a fractured back.
The pair are now divorced.

Judge Jonathan Rose told Akram, who has no previous convictions: "No man has the right to lift a hand, by which I mean, to punch, to kick, or use other violence against a woman."
He was given a six-month sentence, suspended for two years.
He will also have to carry out rehabilitation activity and unpaid work.
