BAILDON Methodist Church have raised more than £800,000 to build a new, two-storey community hub in its car park.
But it is still £150,000 short of the full amount needed.
The two-storey low-energy building will be constructed to standards similar to a Passivhaus and will house community groups.
Now two of the men working on the building site are going to do a sponsored event this weekend to raise money for the building they are working on.
Father and son Alec and Jamie Wright are going to paddle a canoe along the canal from Leeds to Liverpool without stopping.
They hope to complete the 126 miles in less than 36 hours.
